So, Manny has turned down the Dodgers latest offer of 45 million (25mil for the first year plus a player option second year of 20 million and the third year option dropped at his agent’s request.) And you know what Manny? I’m done with you. I had to scrape together money to buy my Dodgers season tickets this year. I spent all of my Christmas bonus and put the rest on my credit card, it kinda hurt me for a month or two financially. Do you know how much money it was? About 750 dollars. I spent that money even though it hurt a bit because I love baseball. Now, I agree that you need to get paid what you’re worth, baseball is big business and its stars deserve to get paid the big bucks. But in case you haven’t noticed, this is what you’re worth, and it is BIG BUCKS. I’m pissed off at you Manny, and it isn’t because you can probably sign somewhere else for more money (or at least that you are TRYING to.) I’m pissed off that this is one more example that shows that baseball players don’t care about the fans that spend a BIG chunk of their income to pay your rather large salary. You have had 4 offers from a club with fans that LOVE you, and you’ve turned them all down. You haven’t told us what you want, but we know what you don’t want and that’s an obscene amount of money for an aging baseball player. The boys of summer played for peanuts, they were OWNED by the ball club who were unfairly using them, but you know what they had? Fans that loved them no matter what. They took the subways and cabs to Ebbet’s field just like the fans did. And no matter how they did, they belonged to the people of Brooklyn. I dont expect baseball to be like the old days, but I do expect the players to show some sort of gratitude to the fans for being there. All you have shown us is greed and some fake ass sentiment about being a Dodgers fan and loving LA and wanting to end your career here. I’d rather have a losing team that loves me and loves baseball than a bunch of high salary bats that will go wherever there is 10 million more dollars. I hope you find a home somewhere else Manny, you don’t deserve one here.
You know what…
