• Regarding Shower-gate ‘09. If I have been taken out of the game, have disgusting sweaty dreadlocks, it’s cold, and I am one of the first people with the chance to shower. There is no question, I’m taking that shower. Broxton shoulda closed it out and nobody would have noticed.
• A 3-1 Deficit is horrible. But the Red Sox came back after being down 3-0 in ‘04, and as the Left Field Pavilion reminds us : “The 1981 team was down 0-2 in the best of 5 NLDS and NLCS. They fell behind the Yanks 0-2 in the World Series. Again they came back to win four straight.” If the Dodgers win tonight and bring it home maybe we can shock ‘em. However, It will mean at least 2 more games of hearing “Don’t Stop Believing” in the NLCS and possibly 3 more in the World Series. Hmmmm. Actually, I don’t know if that’s a fair trade off.
• Start times. These TV shedule start times for the playoffs is bullshit. Dodger fans already get enough grief for being the “show up in the 3rd leave in the 7th” fans and now you have to make it even more inconvenient to get to the games on time? To get to a 7 o’clock game is one thing, but most Angelenos have to leave work by 3 to make a 5 PM game. Any approach to the stadium in rush hour is DEADLOCK traffic. It’s not fair that east coast teams get an 8 pm start time and we get a 5. Don’t even get me started on those fucking afternoon games. Sheesh.
• Dodger Stadium. I went there as a kid, I still go there now. It’s a pile. Maybe with the McCourt’s marriage troubles someone will buy it who will tear it down and build a tasteful modern version of the stadium along with some modern parking structures. Yes I’m fully aware of how unpopular this opinion (and most of my opinions) is, but the McCourt’s renovation is only going to hold up for another 15 years at best.
• Ned Colletti. You can blame him all you want for not getting the pitchers we needed, but you’d probably be making equally angry cries at him had he gotten rid of Kemp, Loney, Ethier or Kershaw for a quick fix. He’s done a pretty good job at pulling this team out of the FOX ruins without spending Yankee-esque money to do so. I don’t mind keeping him around a few more years to see what he can do.
I guess that’s it. I’m gonna go hit the showers .
