Last Dodger game of the season. We got good seats!

The end of the Dodgers season. Brad Ausmus hit a double and a single in his last game ever and got a standing ovation when he was taken out for Hu to pinch run. Joe Torre tried to sound like he gave a shit about leaving LA in his farewell speech, and didn’t sound convinced when he said he was leaving us in “capable hands.” Well, I could just be reading in to that part. The crowd boo’d the mere mention of Frank McCourt’s name, which was kind of nice. And Don’t Stop Believing Guy shared his final lip sync performance of the season (and hopefully ever) with David Hasselhoff.

I can’t say that as much as most Dodgers fans had hope, that we didn’t see the outcome of this season coming. We picked up the scraps off the scrap heap’s scrap heap. Garrett Anderson blew us all away, in the sense that we all wondered “HOW THE FUCK IS HE STILL ON THE TEAM?” Russ and Ramon Ortiz lived up to expectations. Hell, we were so desperate we even gave Gagne another chance in spring training. And on top of the guys we knew would fail - came Sherrill’s inexplicable meltdown and Broxon losing his sure fire “stuff”. It’s sad but at least it’s over.

On the positive side - Clayton Kershaw matured exponentially, becoming the ace of the staff. Billingsley was solid all the way through and showed signs of getting over his confidence issues. And even though it really is too small of a sample size of games but, Kenley Jansen has come out of nowhere to become a NAILS set-up man and possibly even future closer.

Next year is so up in the air - I wont even begin to speculate on what might happen. I do know that Kate and I wont be renewing our season tickets. Gotta vote with our wallets on this one guys. The McCourt’s antics that have been reveled in the course of the divorce trial are appalling and while I will continue to support my team I wont fully support them.

So on to the Post Season. Now that we know the final four in each division I have to say I am rooting for a Minnesota / Atlanta series (also wouldn’t mind the Reds - Joey Votto is a spectacular player and a great great guy), but am realistic in that it will probably be Yankees/Phillies again which will be sad. But anything can happen in the best of five so… Win Twins! Go Braves!, and Fuck Yeah Reds!.

We’ll still be here in the post and off season. A little winter never hurt our love for baseball and the Dodgers.
