Sandy Koufax hand-painted baseball

This might not be Dodgers related, but as baseball fans we can’t put up with this kind of nonsense. There is no umpire accountability. If I suck at my job managing a Burger Hut, I get demoted to fry cook. If umpires make consistently bad calls (and I don’t know if Jerry Meals does, but there are definitely umpires with bad track records) they don’t get fired, they don’t get demoted, and they don’t get punished. The argument against instant replay ruining the sanctity of the game is nonsense… we need it. Everything but balls and strikes, one extra umpire in a booth with the call if a manager or a player argues. It’s not going to extend the game any more than a manager yelling at an ump for a few minutes and getting ejected would extend it. This is just a joke. He’s 2 feet from the plate getting tagged! For a team having an fairy tale of a season so far.. every game counts. This one was stolen from them by Jerry Meals.
Dodgers Downtown? New Stadium Near Staples Center A Possibility
PEOPLE!
Number 1. This is not going to happen. I will eat my hat if it does. This is just someones stupid offhand “what if” idea being spit balled into a story.
Number 2. Dodger Stadium isn’t as nice as you think it is. It’s not a precious Jewel. Sure it takes a beautiful aerial photograph all nestled into the hill side like that with its symmetrical parking lot and vintage colors, it has a gorgeous field and the view of the mountains is nearly unmatched by any view in sports. But try walking around the narrow concourses before a sold out game or taking a leak in the SINGLE top deck bathroom after the 2nd inning or so. Gross. Compare that with Petco, AT&T, Chase, Citi, or any modern ballpark with multiple bathrooms and modern amenities and you’ll be thinking “Can they just tear that shit down and build us a new one right next to it?*” Besides if they were going to move the Dodgers they’d make a lot more money moving them back to Brooklyn. :)
Number 3: Because you need to hear it again. The chances of Dodger Stadium moving are about the same as the chance that Juan Rivera is going to power the Dodgers to the NL West championship. An ice cube’s chance in hell.
* For the record Dodger Stadium is one of my favorite places in the world, I don’t want it torn down. It could stand some serious rennovations though.
“The Dodgers are so broke, three of their players tested positive for ramen noodles.”
Seth Meyers. Love him.

Clayton Kershaw’s 2011 Topps Allen & Ginter base card is equally as awesome as Kemp’s rip card. I will own one of these.
This 2011 Allen & Ginter Matt Kemp rip card could contain another card that’s worth a lot of money, or a boring nearly worthless parallel mini. Can you rip it and just sell me the empty rip card for 5 bucks?
Jesus Colletti, WTF? We all know you’re not going to be giving them cash, so which prospect are you going to give up now for another aging outfielder? Do you seriously think we’re going to make up 11 games with Ted “Batting Practice” Lilly losing every 5th game and Garland out for the season? It’s. not. going. to. happen. I hope once we get some new owners they give you the ol’ heave ho or at least curtail some of your insane moves. Overpaying for aging talent instead of investing in our own home grown talent. pfft. Remember when you traded away Carlos Santana because Russell Martin was our future, and then let him to to the Yankee’s over a 500,000 dollar disagreement? Don’t think every Dodger fan didn’t get a little sad when Russell brought out some Gatorade to his old teammate Matt Kemp during the Home Run Derby last night. I just wish more Dodger fans would realize you’re the one to blame. How’s Barajas and Navarro working out? You suck.
In reality Mark Cuban will have nothing to do with the Dodgers given the mess that Frank McCourt has made with all his shady business deals that will make the next owners life a living hell. The MLB is doing everything in its power to fix the McCourt situation and take back the team, they have heard our voices. However I do support having a little poster waving party if anything just to let the players know we are still fans, and to make it even more clear to Frank we want him out. So head on down tomorrow, bring a sign. Don’t get your hopes up on Cuban though.

Bob Costas on the state of broadcasting. (via BBTF) (via oldtimefamilybaseball)You should do a TELEVISION game the same way. Since I live in New York I watch the Dodgers games on MLB.tv. Which means the only time I don’t get to listen to Vin’s soothing voice during home games is when the Mets are in town because the games are blacked out and I have to watch the game on TV. These Mets announcers are even worse than Steve Lyons and Eric Collins. It is absolutely painful to listen to 95% of Baseball announcers these days. |
BEHOLD. After scouring Hostess-carrying stores for months, I may now safely say that this very package resides in my kitchen. I have eaten this very cupcake. I have attained a higher state of being.
